Focused psychiatric care, from first evaluation onward
NH Psychiatry primarily provides psychiatric evaluation, treatment planning, and ongoing medication management. The practice is not designed as a high-volume clinic, crisis service, or standalone psychotherapy practice.
Initial Psychiatric Evaluation & Treatment Planning
The first step in ongoing care, including review of symptoms, history, prior treatment, current medications, safety concerns, and treatment goals.
The first visit is a comprehensive psychiatric evaluation and treatment-planning appointment. The provider reviews current concerns, symptoms, psychiatric history, medical history, prior medication trials, family history, relevant social history, treatment goals, and safety concerns. The goal is to understand what is happening and develop a practical treatment plan.
Medication Management
Ongoing psychiatric medication treatment with monitoring for effectiveness, side effects, safety, and functional improvement.
Medication management is the core service of the practice. Treatment may include starting, adjusting, continuing, or discontinuing psychiatric medications when clinically appropriate. Appointments may also include psychoeducation, brief supportive interventions, sleep and lifestyle guidance, and practical coping strategies when clinically appropriate.
ADHD Evaluation & Treatment
Clinical assessment and treatment of ADHD symptoms when appropriate, including careful review of history, impairment, medication response, and safety.
ADHD care may include clinical interview, rating scales, review of childhood and current symptoms, assessment of functional impairment, medical and psychiatric history, and review of prior records when available. Stimulant medications are controlled substances and require regular follow-up, safe use, and adherence to practice policies.
Adolescent Psychiatry
Medication-focused psychiatric care for motivated adolescents and families seeking evaluation, treatment planning, and ongoing support.
For adolescents, care works best when both the patient and family are willing to provide accurate history, support follow-through, and participate in treatment planning.
Adult Psychiatry
Psychiatric medication management for adults experiencing mood, anxiety, attention, sleep, or other outpatient mental health concerns.
Common concerns may include ADHD, anxiety disorders, depression, mood disorders, bipolar-spectrum disorders, OCD, PTSD or trauma-related symptoms, sleep-related concerns, irritability, emotional dysregulation, and other psychiatric concerns appropriate for outpatient medication management.
Spravato® / Esketamine Treatment
A specialized, monitored in-office treatment option for eligible adults with treatment-resistant depression after clinical screening, insurance review, and required safety monitoring.
Spravato treatment requires clinical screening, insurance review or authorization when applicable, required safety procedures, transportation planning, and in-office monitoring after each treatment session. NH Psychiatry does not currently offer TMS or IV ketamine treatment.
In-Person & Telehealth Appointments
Appointments are available in Alton, NH, with telehealth options when clinically appropriate.
Initial evaluations are generally completed in person unless otherwise approved by the provider. Virtual appointments are available when clinically appropriate and when the patient is physically located in a state where the provider is licensed and legally able to provide care.
A note on psychotherapy — NH Psychiatry does not provide standalone psychotherapy. Brief supportive, educational, or skills-based interventions may be included as part of medication management when clinically appropriate. Patients who need ongoing therapy may be referred to a therapist.
Boundaries
Scope of practice
To maintain a focused outpatient psychiatry model, NH Psychiatry does not provide every type of mental health service. Patients who need services outside the practice scope may be referred to a more appropriate provider, service, or level of care.
Standalone Psychotherapy
NH Psychiatry does not provide standalone psychotherapy. Brief supportive, educational, or skills-based interventions may be included as part of medication management when clinically appropriate.
Legal, Custody, or Forensic Evaluations
NH Psychiatry does not provide one-time forensic evaluations, custody evaluations, court-related evaluations, or legal opinions.
Full Neuropsychological Testing
NH Psychiatry does not provide full neuropsychological or psychoeducational testing.
